Fingal Bay Beach in Fingal Bay
Fingal Bay Beach in Fingal Bay has it ALL and more!!! There is bike paths, look outs, Barry Park rock pools, snorkelling, the most amazing playground, large grass area, shady BBQ tables, really nice café with Kiosk for takeaway, Restaurant with amazing views, small surf with life guards, or protected calm waters at the other end, all topped by the fact the water is aqua blue and very enticing for a swim. What more could you won’t? A light house and Island to walk to? It’s got that too!!
A near-perfect C-curve of sand that faces southeast, Fingal Bay Beach has its own island connected by a sand-spit and is well protected. The spit at the north end which links Fingal Island to the mainland gets decent waves on the side closest to Shoal Bay, exposed to the ocean when the sand builds up. The island’s key feature is a lighthouse. Check with the lifeguard about the tides before crossing the spit. It’s a great way to spend the morning or afternoon, strolling the white sands to the spit, surrounded by crystal clear water, crossing to the Island for an adventure walk and returning to relax at the café or restaurant.
If you have a 4WD you can launch small boats. There is parking in the middle and at the far end. Also at the far end, one street back is Market Street. The café and takeaway stores there have necessity shopping and DVD store. There is a path that runs along the back of the beach that links to Shoal Bay (Ocean Beach Road).
