When you are visiting Port Stephens and you would like to see Koalas in the wild, this is the place to go! Tilligerry Habitat Reserve is a 9 ha flora and fauna reserve along a sandy foreshore on Tanilba Bay between the townships of Tanilba Bay and Mallabula. It is a favourite feeding and resting spot for local Koalas and the best place to spot them in their natural habitat. Walkers will also be treated to many species of Australian native birdlife. The Habitat is great to visit in any season with native flora flowering all year round.
Tilligerry Habitat is a community-based Ecotourism Information Centre organising guided walks including koala spotting and a range of other eco activities. With free entry, just turn up and get a free map from the Environment Centre. They sell souvenirs and showcase an outstanding display of work created by talented local potters, painters, wood turners, silversmiths, jewellery makers, leather workers, decoupage, photographs, cards and much more.
You may explore the Habitat yourself or take a guided walk learning about local history, culture and the environment. Enjoy easy walking tracks on gravel paths and boardwalks.
